Wireless Charging Platform Using SsangYong Motor's Electric SUV Korando e-Motion
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] SsangYong Motor announced that it will showcase a wireless charging platform using the electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) Korando e-Motion at the 2022 Radio and Broadcasting Industry Promotion Week, held over two days starting on the 21st.
The newly unveiled wireless charging platform for electric vehicles applies a 22 kW wireless charging system to the Korando e-Motion, which uses a 61.5 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery, allowing a full charge in about 3 hours. The company is conducting this project as a national research task in the mid- to long-term preliminary research phase.

The company also stated that it is developing technology that can reduce charging time as well as technology that enables charging while driving through a rapid power line. If commercialized, the technology is expected to reduce the existing electric vehicle battery capacity to one-third, thereby lessening the burden on consumers.
