At the donation ceremony held in Sujeong Village, located in Gusan-myeon, Masanhappo-gu, Changwon City, BPA ESG Management Office Manager Eom Gi-yong, Gyeongnam Regional Problem Solving Platform Secretary-General Shim In-gyeong, the village chief, and youth representatives attended.
Sujeong Village had long-standing conflicts among residents over attracting shipbuilding equipment factories and the direction of village development. Currently, Gyeongnam Provincial Government and local universities are jointly conducting activities to restore the village community and heal residents.
Since August, BPA has been collaborating with the ‘Gyeongnam Regional Problem Solving Platform’ to expand community participation near the port and is supporting one of the implementation agendas, ‘Sujeong! We will shine again!’
The ‘Regional Problem Solving Platform’ is a platform where citizens, government, and public institutions jointly identify local community issues and seek solutions.
BPA’s donation will be used by the Gyeongnam Regional Problem Solving Platform for the ‘Development of a project model to revitalize Sujeong Village through youth inflow.’
Sujeong Village plans to develop a youth fishing village living experience program utilizing the village’s specialty, mussels, in cooperation with youth organizations and the LINC 3.0 Project Group of Gyeongnam National University.
BPA will also provide 70 handmade soaps as sponsorship items for the ‘2nd Sujeong Village Festival,’ a residents’ harmony festival to be held on the 20th.
The event will be held at the village hall from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM, where residents can enjoy various performances such as line dance and trot prepared by themselves, as well as experiential activities like making eco-friendly kitchen detergent.
