Department of Applied Chemistry at Dong-Eui University Wins Top Award at the Korean Institute of Electrical and Electronic Materials Conference

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Professors and students from the Nano Materials Application Laboratory in the Department of Applied Chemistry at Dong-Eui University won the grand prize and other awards in two categories at the ‘2022 Fall Conference of the Korean Institute of Electrical and Electronic Materials’ held in Gyeongju on the 3rd and 4th.
Students Lee Young-ho and Jang Min-gi from the Nano Materials Application Laboratory, along with Professor Kim Sung-hoon as corresponding author, recently received the grand prize in the undergraduate competition and the excellence award in the capstone design competition at the Korean Institute of Electrical and Electronic Materials Fall Conference.
The competition featured verified papers and research achievements from over 10 universities nationwide, including Kyungpook National University, Sungkyunkwan University, and UNIST, and Dong-Eui University was the only institution to win awards in both categories open to undergraduates.
The awarded paper, titled “Development of Quantum Dot/Ceramic Composite-Deposited Ceramic Phosphor Plate for High-Power White LED Packages,” presents research on improving the high color rendering index and heat resistance of wavelength conversion materials using quantum dot/ceramic composites and applying this to high-power white lighting LED packages.
The paper is scheduled to be submitted soon to an SCI(E)-level journal.

Student Lee Young-ho said, “Taking the capstone design course as a major subject helped me come up with the idea for this presentation,” and added, “I want to pursue graduate studies at Dong-Eui University and develop in-depth research skills and capabilities in the R&D field.”
