69.9% of Gyeonggi Residents Say "Digital Twin Should Be Introduced in Administrative Services"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] 69.9% of Gyeonggi Province residents believe that it is necessary to introduce 'digital twin' technology, which replicates real-world objects identically in virtual space to simulate various situations and predict outcomes, into administrative services.
In particular, it is expected to be highly useful if introduced in the disaster and safety sectors.
On the 10th, the Gyeonggi Research Institute announced the results of a survey conducted from September 28 to October 4 with 1,000 residents of the province, showing that 69.9% of respondents answered that "digital twin is a necessary technology for Gyeonggi Province administrative services."
Additionally, 71.2% of respondents anticipated that if administrative services based on digital twin technology are provided in Gyeonggi Province, "it will be possible to respond quickly to many problem situations."
Regarding the expected utilization by administrative service sectors (on a 5-point scale), the disaster and safety sector scored the highest at 4.07 points.
It was followed by ▲ Roads and Transportation (4.05 points) ▲ Environment (3.95 points) ▲ Urban Planning (3.89 points) ▲ Land and Buildings (3.85 points) ▲ Culture and Tourism (3.74 points).
Services in the disaster and safety sector where digital twin is considered useful include disaster and hazard prediction simulation and forecasting, preemptive monitoring for water and flood disasters, and real-time disaster response for public facilities.
Ok Jin-ah, a research fellow at the Gyeonggi Research Institute, explained, "To realize digital twin administrative services in Gyeonggi Province, it is necessary to prioritize projects with high demand and effectiveness such as disaster and hazard situation simulations, road and traffic optimization services, and pollutant monitoring services, while also establishing the legal and institutional basis related to these."
