Cho appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' on the same day and said, "I cannot shake off the thought that this was meant to embarrass."
The day before, the prosecution conducted a search and seizure of Jeong Jin-sang, chief political coordinator and a close aide to Lee Jae-myung, the party leader. The prosecution attempted to search Jeong's residence, the Democratic Party headquarters where his office is located, and the Democratic Party leader's secretariat office in the National Assembly.
Cho explained, "I don't know about other places, but regarding the search and seizure of the Democratic Party leader's political office located in the National Assembly main building, the Speaker of the National Assembly requested, 'Since this place has symbolic significance, please conduct a voluntary investigation rather than a search and seizure.' However, the result that followed was the execution of a warrant." He added, "The Democratic Party claims that the actual items seized were trivial things like scrap paper and internet search log records, which are meaningless. I cannot shake off the thought that this was meant to embarrass."
He pointed out, "If they intended to conduct a search and seizure, they should have first confirmed whether this was Jeong's main office. It is regrettable that they either did not properly verify this or, even if they did, entered in a showy manner because the nameplate was displayed that way."
