Jeonnam Provincial Assembly Member Park Hyung-dae Criticizes Shinan Student Human Rights Ordinance
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Park Hyung-dae, Jeonnam Provincial Councilor (Progressive Party, Jangheung 1), pointed out the ‘Student Human Rights Ordinance Movement’ of the Shinan Office of Education during the administrative audit on the 7th.
The Student Human Rights Ordinance is an ordinance enacted by each Office of Education to ensure and realize the dignity and value of students within the school curriculum. It includes rights such as freedom from discrimination, freedom of expression, and rights related to educational welfare.
Councilor Park Hyung-dae stated, “The Jeonnam Office of Education attempted to enact the Student Human Rights Ordinance during the first and third terms of the civilian administration, but it was not enacted,” and added, “The causes and alternatives must be established.”
He continued, “The Student Human Rights Ordinance requires establishing a basic understanding of human rights starting from the Office of Education,” emphasizing, “Comparing student human rights to teacher human rights is a mistaken perception that approaches human rights as a relative concept.”
He also asserted, “Recently, students at Gwangyang Jecheol High School have been autonomously conducting activities to enact the Student Human Rights Ordinance,” and “Such activities should be actively encouraged and supported in other schools.”
