'Embezzlement and Bribery Charges' Chicken Franchise CEO, Prosecutors Request Supplementary Investigation
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The prosecution has requested supplementary investigation from the police regarding the CEO of a famous chicken franchise company who is accused of receiving bribes from a supplier.
On the 7th, the Gangseo Police Station in Seoul announced that they had been asked to conduct a supplementary investigation into Jang, aged 44, the CEO of the chicken franchise company, who is suspected of breach of trust and bribery.
Jang is accused of receiving regular bribes totaling around 200 million won from 2018 to 2020 after signing a contract with a packaging materials manufacturer. It is known that this supplier is operated by a junior from Jang's hometown.
During the police investigation, Jang's side denied the allegations, stating that they had no acquaintance or interaction with any executives or employees of the supplier and were unaware of their hometown connection.

The supplier had been delivering goods since 2016 but filed a complaint with the police after the contract renewal failed. After conducting investigations including raids on both the supplier and the delivery company, the police transferred CEO Jang to the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office on September 20.
