Ministry of SMEs and Startups Orders Strengthened Safety and Risk Management to Affiliated Agencies
Ministry of SMEs and Startups - Subordinate Public Institutions Policy Council Meeting Held
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Lee Young) announced on the 7th that it held a policy council chaired by Vice Minister Jo Joo-hyun, attended by heads of affiliated public institutions such as the Korea Technology Finance Corporation and the Small Enterprise and Market Service, along with key national division chiefs.
The policy council was launched as a regular meeting in July this year to strengthen linkage and collaboration, and activate communication between the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and its affiliated institutions since Minister Lee Young took office. It operates to consolidate professional capabilities to support the growth of SMEs, venture companies, and small business owners, and to achieve joint goals such as carrying out national agenda tasks.
The policy council held at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups meeting room in Sejong City proceeded in a discussion format, where each head of the affiliated public institutions presented safety management measures and risk management plans related to issues raised in the national audit and risks occurring during institution operations and project execution, followed by questions from the ministry’s national division chiefs.
First, Vice Minister Jo Joo-hyun ordered affiliated public institutions to conduct safety inspections of facilities to prevent any recurrence of incidents threatening the safety of the public and employees, and to maintain an appropriate scale of external participants and thoroughly implement safety accident prevention measures when conducting planned future events.
Additionally, he instructed that evacuation drills and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training be regularly conducted for all employees, and that through inspections of each institution’s “Safety Management Responsibility Plan,” the safety of the public and workers be prioritized. Through the discussion process, major management tasks were selected from issues pointed out in this year’s national audit of public institutions under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and risks identified internally, and improvement plans were prepared and follow-up measures implemented.
