Gang Jong-man, Mayor of Yeonggwang County, Goes All Out to Secure Next Year's National Budget
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Kang Jongman, the mayor of Yeonggwang County, is making every effort to secure the national treasury budget for next year.
According to the county on the 3rd, Mayor Kang Jongman visited the National Assembly on the 2nd and held meetings with Lee Gaeho, a member of the National Assembly from his constituency, as well as Democratic Party members Kim Dugwan, Seo Samsuk, Kim Jongmin, Yoon Youngdeok, Kim Jeongho, and People Power Party floor leader Joo Ho-young, Lee Yongho, and former Minister of Strategy and Finance Yoon Jeung-hyun.
On the same day, he also visited People Power Party member Jo Sujin, Democratic Party member Yang Kyungsuk, and independent member Yang Jeongsuk to propose that ongoing projects without reflected national funds and major new national treasury budgets for next year be additionally included. He also requested special grant support of 2.5 billion KRW for the “Beopseong Port Marine Pedestrian Bridge Installation Project.”
The additional projects proposed to the National Assembly this time amount to six projects totaling 8.9 billion KRW, including sewage pipeline maintenance in Yeonggwang-eup (4.2 billion KRW), dangerous road improvement in Baeksu Daesinji district on National Road 77 (1 billion KRW), establishment of a pilot production support base for ultra-small e-mobility parts (2.5 billion KRW), 2023 Yeonggwang e-Mobility Expo (500 million KRW), construction of Yeonggwang Gulbi Museum (600 million KRW), and establishment of an integrated food support center (100 million KRW).
He also met with members of the Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting and Communications Committee and the Industry, Trade, Small and Medium Business Committee to convey local opinions regarding compensation for damages suffered by the county and residents due to the long-term shutdown of Hanbit Nuclear Power Plant Units 3 and 4, repeatedly requesting cooperation at the National Assembly level.
Mayor Kang Jongman said, “We will do our utmost to secure the national treasury budget with a proactive attitude to overcome poor financial conditions and build a Yeonggwang where people want to live and a great Yeonggwang together with the residents based on continuous growth.”
Meanwhile, since the beginning of the 8th elected term, Mayor Kang has been dedicated to securing the national treasury budget by visiting central government ministries such as the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Environment, and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport twice on July 19 and last month on the 24th to make proposals.
