Im Hyun-gyu, the newly appointed chief of Yongsan Police Station, visited the joint memorial altar located at Noksapyeong Station around 2 p.m. on the 3rd to pay respects to the victims of the Itaewon tragedy.

[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] Im Hyun-gyu, the newly appointed chief of Yongsan Police Station, visited the joint memorial altar located at Noksapyeong Station around 2 p.m. on the 3rd to pay respects to the victims of the Itaewon tragedy.
Chief Im visited the memorial altar and also checked the memorial area in front of Exit 1 of Itaewon Station, surveying the surroundings. Afterwards, he visited the Itaewon Police Substation to encourage the officers stationed there.

Chief Im was appointed to the vacant position of Yongsan Police Station chief after the previous chief, Lee Im-jae, was placed on standby due to inadequate response to the Itaewon tragedy the day before. Prior to this, Chief Im served as the Police Agency’s finance officer.
