Imsil-gun Operates Emergency Repair Team for Frozen Pipe Prevention... Ensuring Minimal Damage
[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk is making every effort to take proactive measures to minimize winter damage to residents, such as frozen water supply facilities.
The county announced on the 2nd that it will establish and fully implement measures to prevent water supply facility freezing during the winter season.
To promptly handle complaints expected to cause inconvenience to residents, an emergency duty team has been organized, establishing an emergency water supply and urgent restoration system, and conducting pre-inspections of water supply facilities.
In addition, an emergency contact system has been established with 10 local water supply agencies to respond quickly in case of emergencies.
The county has already completed publicity by producing leaflets on preventing meter freezing to minimize inconvenience to residents during the winter and ensure stable tap water supply.
In particular, an emergency restoration team has been organized and put into operation to prepare for frozen water pipes and frozen water meters.
It is important to prevent freezing by placing insulation materials or old clothes inside the protective casing of water meters installed in each household.
If tap water is not used for a long time, the water meter protective casing should be protected to prevent freezing.
When the severe cold continues below minus 10 degrees Celsius, in addition to insulating the meter protective casing, even when going out or during nighttime when tap water is not used, faucets in bathtubs, washbasins, and sinks should be slightly opened to let water flow.
In case of water meter freezing or water supply leakage, report to the Imsil-gun Water and Sewage Department.
County Governor Shim Min said, “As the weather has become quite chilly, we will make every effort to implement comprehensive winter measures including prevention of frozen water pipes, snow removal, and crop damage prevention,” and added, “We will carefully take care to ensure residents do not suffer damage during the winter.”
