[Asia Economy reporters Lee Ji-eun and Kwon Hyun-ji] The ruling party announced that it will amend the Framework Act on Disaster and Safety Management to allow the government to strengthen safety management even for private events without organizers.
Seong Il-jong, chairman of the People Power Party's Policy Committee, said at the party floor meeting on the 1st, "We will prioritize accident recovery and actively support all possible measures to identify the cause and prepare recurrence prevention plans."
He added, "Now is the time to do our best for accident recovery and public stability regardless of party lines," and requested cooperation from the opposition, saying, "As the Democratic Party also mentioned bipartisan cooperation, the political parties should show cooperation in preparing necessary legislation."
