Police Confirm Final Identities of 99 Women and 55 Men

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's investigation headquarters, which is investigating the Itaewon crowd crush disaster, conducted a joint on-site inspection with the National Forensic Service (NFS) for about two hours starting at 2 p.m. on the 31st.
During the joint inspection, the police carried out three-dimensional measurements, detailed photography, and other measurements at the accident site, focusing on collecting evidence that was not discovered in previous inspections. The inspection results will be used as data for analyzing the crowd density and risk level at the time of the accident.
Based on the inspection results, the police plan to determine the circumstances that caused the crowd to gather all at once.
The police have also secured and are analyzing a large number of CCTV footage installed in the alley behind the hotel and videos of the scene at the time of the accident uploaded on social media. The police stated, "We will clearly identify the cause of the accident through the joint inspection."
Immediately after the accident occurred on the night of the 29th, the police formed a dedicated investigation headquarters and began identifying the victims and investigating the cause of the accident. A total of 475 personnel from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency were deployed.
Additionally, the police announced that the gender statistics of the deceased have been corrected after completing the identification of all victims of this disaster.
The currently confirmed number of deceased by gender is 99 women and 55 men. In the earlier announcement at 11 a.m., it was 98 women and 56 men. The number of women decreased by one, and the number of men increased by one.
