Holds Economic Education and Job Experience Event for Multicultural Children
Pearl Buck Foundation and 42 Elementary Students Economic Education and Job Experience
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) announced on the afternoon of the 31st that it held an economic education and job experience event at Korea Job World, inviting about 40 multicultural elementary school students from the Korea Pearl Buck Foundation.
The event was attended by Kwon Taekmyung, Executive Director of the Korea Pearl Buck Foundation, and 42 elementary school students from multicultural families invited by the foundation, who participated in various job experience learning activities.
The event was planned to provide insufficient career information and experiences raised as difficulties in child-rearing in multicultural families, ahead of the era of 1.2 million multicultural families.
According to a survey by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in June, 50.4% of respondents cited "difficulty in learning guidance and academic management" as the biggest challenge in raising children in multicultural families. The lack of information on academics, college admission, and career (37.6%) was also a serious issue.
Despite the 240% increase in the number of multicultural family students in elementary, middle, and high schools over the past 10 years, children from multicultural families still face difficulties in economic activities and employment.
