Fire Agency: "168 Reports Related to Earthquake in Goesan, Chungbuk... No Damage Reported So Far"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] At around 8:27 a.m. on the 29th, a magnitude 4.1 earthquake occurred 11 km northeast of Goesan-gun, Chungbuk, and the Fire Agency reported that 168 earthquake-related reports and inquiries have been received.
Among them, 93 reports stated that people felt the earthquake, and 75 were simple inquiries. The Fire Agency explained that as of 2 p.m., there have been no dispatches or damage reports.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety issued an earthquake crisis alert at the "Warning" level at 8:30 a.m. on the same day immediately after the earthquake and activated Level 1 of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH).
The CDSCH sent disaster text messages stating that no damage has occurred so far and urged people to respond according to earthquake action guidelines in case of additional earthquakes.
The CDSCH held an emergency situation inspection meeting via video conference chaired by Director Lee Sang-min (Minister of the Interior and Safety) with related agencies including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Environment, Korea Meteorological Administration, Fire Agency, and local governments.
Director Lee instructed related ministries and local governments to quickly assess damage situations such as casualties, displaced persons, and facility damage, and to mobilize all available personnel and equipment to ensure prompt recovery and restoration if damage occurs.

This is the first earthquake with a magnitude over 4.0 on the Korean Peninsula this year, and it is the first in about 10 months since a magnitude 4.9 earthquake occurred in the southwest sea area of Seogwipo-si, Jeju, on December 14 last year.
