Korea South-East Power Yeosu Power Plant Headquarters Selected as Model Safety Workplace, Awarded 'Presidential Prize'

Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Kim Joil) announced on the 27th at the '21st Korea Safety Awards' ceremony held at KINTEX Exhibition Center in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, that Korea South East Power Yeosu Power Plant Headquarters was selected as an exemplary safety workplace this year and received the Presidential Award.
Hosted by the National Fire Agency and organized by the Korea Safety Certification Institute, Korea Fire Safety Institute, and Korea Fire Industry Technology Institute, the 'Korea Safety Awards' has been implementing plans to select and reward excellent workplaces annually since 2002 to encourage autonomous safety management of fire target facilities.
Korea South East Power Yeosu Power Plant Headquarters received high evaluations for installing thermal imaging cameras in the energy sector to monitor coal facilities continuously and for promoting hazard labeling management by concentration.
As a special benefit, the Korea Safety Awards certificate and plaque are awarded, and the obligation for comprehensive precision inspection under the Fire Services Act, which must be conducted annually, is exempted for three years.

Chief Kim Joil of the Fire Headquarters said, "To ensure safety, voluntary participation from not only public institutions but also companies and citizens is necessary," adding, "We will share fire safety information of safety award workplaces with workplaces in the province to further promote the establishment of a safety culture."
