View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Taemin] Zigbang plans to change the logo it has used since its establishment in the second half of this year. As the company diversifies its business areas into various fields such as home IoT and metaverse platforms, this is interpreted as a strategic move to express its changed identity.
According to comprehensive coverage on the 25th, the comprehensive proptech company Zigbang is preparing to unveil a new brand logo within this year. Zigbang stated that it has been promoting an overall rebranding, including logo changes, since last year. Notably, the new logo will omit the house-shaped logo that was previously used alongside the company name. This is interpreted as reflecting Zigbang’s identity to leap beyond its existing business area of online housing brokerage to become a living brand.
Zigbang acquired Samsung SDS’s home IoT (Internet of Things) business division to expand its business into the smart home sector. In January, it signed a sales transfer contract for the home IoT business with Samsung SDS, and by the end of July, it completed the acquisition by taking over intellectual property rights related to the home IoT business operated by Samsung SDS’s Korean and Chinese subsidiaries, as well as major business rights including sales, production, and contracts. Samsung SDS’s home IoT business division is the number one player in the domestic smart home market, including smart door locks and wall pads, and exports to 16 countries including China.
In addition, Zigbang is reportedly considering changing the Korean name appearing in the existing logo to English. This seems to reflect the company’s intention to expand beyond the domestic market and grow into a global enterprise. In fact, Zigbang launched the global virtual office ‘Soma’ in May. ‘Soma’ is a new brand that upgraded and launched last year’s Korea’s first self-developed virtual office ‘Metapolis’ targeting the global market. To target the global virtual office market with Soma, Zigbang established the U.S. corporation ‘Soma Development Company’ in April.
In June this year, Zigbang actively expanded into new business areas by attracting a total of 100 billion KRW in new investments from KDB Industrial Bank, IMM Investment, and Hana Financial Investment. This is the first large-scale investment raised by Zigbang in three years since 2019, and industry evaluations say that Zigbang’s corporate value was assessed at 2.5 trillion KRW through this investment.
