19,824 COVID-19 Cases Confirmed... Increase of Over 3,000 Compared to Last Week
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunwoo Lee] As of 9 PM on Sunday the 23rd, the number of new COVID-19 cases nationwide was recorded at around 13,000, an increase of about 3,000 compared to last week.
According to local governments including Seoul on the 23rd, the number of people confirmed with COVID-19 from midnight to 9 PM was counted at 13,824. Due to a decrease in the number of diagnostic tests conducted during the Sunday weekend, this is 11,452 fewer than the 25,276 cases recorded at the same time the previous day.
However, compared to one week ago on the 16th (10,633 cases), it increased by 3,191, and compared to two weeks ago on the 9th (8,549 cases), it increased by 5,275, continuing the upward trend. Experts and health authorities are on alert, viewing that the winter resurgence is likely to occur between November and December.
As of 9 PM on the day, 7,814 cases (56.5%) were reported in the metropolitan area, and 6,010 cases (43.5%) in non-metropolitan areas. By region, the numbers are: Gyeonggi 4,446, Seoul 2,438, Incheon 930, Gyeongbuk 861, Gyeongnam 645, Chungnam 573, Gangwon 563, Chungbuk 514, Daegu 496, Daejeon 450, Jeonnam 365, Jeonbuk 362, Gwangju 340, Ulsan 294, Busan 274, Jeju 141, Sejong 132.
