"Cut Over 10%" ... Gyeongbuk Province Launches Public Institutions' 'Energy Diet 10' Initiative
Global Energy Supply Instability Deepens, Proactive Measures to Overcome Crisis
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Are you familiar with the concept of an ‘energy diet’?
Gyeongbuk Province has launched the ‘Energy Diet 10’ project to reduce energy consumption. This campaign encourages public institutions to take the lead in cutting energy use by more than 10% to overcome the energy crisis.
Gyeongbuk Province established the ‘Winter Public Institution Energy Saving Measures’ and began implementation on the 18th, planning to continue until March 31 of next year.
This measure was prepared to achieve an energy reduction target of over 10% amid soaring global energy prices and worsening global energy supply instability.
The five key energy-saving actions include ▷limiting indoor heating temperature in public institution buildings to 17℃ ▷stopping heaters during peak electricity hours ▷prohibiting the use of personal heaters during working hours ▷turning off nighttime landscape lighting on outdoor advertisements and facilities ▷turning off lights for more than one-third of working hours and more than half during peak electricity hours.
However, certain facilities are exempt from this campaign. These include medical institutions, child and elderly welfare facilities, educational facilities, libraries, civil service offices, railway stations, bus terminals, and other public transportation facilities and places frequently used by the public.
This measure is being implemented at a more stringent level than previous efforts.
