View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] Voice phishing originating from China is evolving day by day.
On the 19th, Mr. A, who resides in Miryang City, recently sent a link to an event claiming to provide "transportation expenses in celebration of the 18th anniversary of the founding of Korea Railroad" received through SNS to acquaintances. If you look closely at the link, the last part of the address contains the Chinese domain 'cn', indicating that it was sent from China.
When clicking the link sent by Mr. A, a message appears saying, "Congratulations! You have a chance to receive 1,000,000 KRW in transportation expenses through a survey commemorating the 18th anniversary of the founding of Korea Railroad Corporation," along with the Korail logo and images.
At the bottom, there are four poorly constructed questions such as "Do you know Korea Railroad Corporation?" with clickable answers "Yes" and "No." Below that, there is a photo of a Korean person who supposedly received 1,000,000 KRW in transportation expenses along with comments, enticing netizens to fall for the "it's real" temptation.
Is it true that Korail is giving 1,000,000 KRW in transportation expenses just by responding to a survey in celebration of its 18th anniversary? The answer is no.
This voice phishing method charges the person clicking with "overseas text message" fees each time they respond to a question. The charges, ranging from a few thousand to tens of thousands of KRW, are billed without the person's knowledge. Additionally, there is a possibility of personal information theft, so clicking thoughtlessly can lead to serious trouble.
Korea Railroad Corporation issued a notice in August warning about "voice phishing impersonating Korea Railroad Corporation," but many netizens who have not recognized this are still suffering unintended damages.

To prevent voice phishing damage impersonating Korail or other reputable Korean public enterprises such as domestic major airlines, it is essential to verify through "internet surfing" such as portal site searches. If the link address contains 'cn', it means it was sent from China and should be deleted immediately.
