[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] The police have arrested a group of Chinese international students who stole over 10,000 packs of cigarettes and other items from storage rooms and shelves while roaming convenience stores, and are currently investigating.
The Seoul Western Police Station announced on the 20th that they are conducting a detention investigation on Chinese national international student A (25), who is suspected of special theft. Two other Chinese nationals in their early 20s, B and C, have been booked without detention.
A and others are accused of sequentially visiting four franchise convenience stores starting from June 18 and stealing items worth about 100 million won, including over 10,000 packs of cigarettes from storage rooms and shelves. It is reported that these convenience stores were established through a contract with Korean national D, who paid the startup costs.
The police have imposed a travel ban on them and are recovering the stolen goods. Some items were found at B's residence, but the whereabouts of the remaining items are being investigated.
