"Exploring Classification and Management Strategies for Korean Catholic Historical Records"… Academic Symposium in Daejeon on the 28th
[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The Korean Catholic Central Council's Korean Catholic Historical Records Cataloging Project Promotion Committee will hold an academic symposium on the Korean Catholic Historical Records Cataloging Project on the 28th from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM at the Daejeon Diocese Office conference room, 12 Gukchaek Yeonguwon 5-ro, Sejong City.
The symposium will begin with a congratulatory address by Bishop Kim Jongsu (Daejeon Diocese) under the theme "Exploring Classification and Management Methods of Korean Catholic Historical Records." Honorary Director Cha Gijin (Yangup Church History Research Institute) will serve as the chair, and Father Joo Youngil (Gwangju Church History Research Institute) will moderate the session.
In Part 1, Research Director Lee Seokwon (Suwon Church History Research Institute) will present on the topic "A Study on the Classification of Korean Catholic Historical Documents." Following this, Minjok Research Director Lee Gwanho (National Folk Museum), Research Director Song Ranhee, and Senior Researcher Nam Sora (both from the Korean Church History Research Institute) will give presentations on "A Study on the Classification System of Korean Catholic Historical Records - Focusing on Artifacts." Research Fellow Bang Sanggeun (Naepo Church History Research Institute) and Father Lee Ugap (Buron Catholic Church, Wonju Diocese) will participate as discussants.
In Part 2, Father Kim Sungtae and Father Kwon Youngmyung (both from Naepo Church History Research Institute) will present "Basic Research for Establishing Standards for Public Disclosure of Korean Catholic Historical Records," followed by presentations by Father Lee Yeonchun (Daegu Archdiocese) and Father Kim Jeonghee (Daegu Catholic University) on "A Study on the Guidelines for Managing Catholic Church Historical Records." Discussants include Father Lee Youngchun (Honam Church History Research Institute) and Father Yeo Jincheon (Suwon Catholic University).
The Korean Catholic Central Council's Korean Catholic Historical Records Cataloging Project Promotion Committee has been conducting a project since 2017 to investigate, organize, analyze, and catalog church historical records scattered nationwide over ten years, aiming to build an integrated search system for public service. In its sixth year, this project seeks to concretely explore methods of progress through phased research to establish classification systems, management standards, and utilization plans for Korean church historical records.
