Emons Furniture Shines with 2 Golds and 1 Excellence Award at the 2022 WorldSkills Competition

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Emons achieved a remarkable feat by winning 2 gold medals and 1 excellence award at the '2022 International Skills Olympics Special Competition' held in Switzerland on the 16th, marking the fourth consecutive time they have won medals.
The International Skills Olympics, with a 72-year history, is the most prestigious global vocational skills competition where young skilled workers from around the world compete. It is held biennially. The originally scheduled 2021 competition in Shanghai, China was canceled due to COVID-19. The 2022 International Skills Olympics Special Competition, held from September to November across 26 cities in 15 countries including South Korea and Switzerland, is now at its midpoint with 21 out of 47 Korean participating occupations having completed their events as of this date.
The Korean team, participating in 8 occupations at this competition, won 6 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 2 excellence awards. Emons-affiliated athletes won South Korea’s first gold medals in the furniture occupation by Kwon Soo-il and in the woodworking occupation by Song Jae-ho at the special competition held in Switzerland. Athlete Noh Gun-hee in the interior decoration occupation also received an excellence award.
Prize money and commendations are awarded to winners according to their rankings, along with benefits such as alternative military service (industrial technical personnel placement) and continuous employment incentives (5.05 million to 12 million KRW) if they continue working in the same field.
Emons has consecutively participated as national representatives (affiliated with Emons Furniture) in the furniture, woodworking, and interior decoration occupations at the 43rd International Skills Olympics in S?o Paulo, Brazil in 2015, the 44th in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates in 2017, the 45th in Kazan, Russia in 2019, and the 46th International Skills Olympics Special Competition in 2022, accumulating 6 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 3 excellence awards.
