View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] AI MedTech company Waycen announced on the 20th that it signed a strategic business agreement with KMI Korea Medical Institute on the 19th to mutually develop their business areas.
Through this business agreement, the two companies plan to actively cooperate to explore ways in which the AI endoscope ‘WAYMED Endo’ can contribute to high-quality endoscopic examinations within the screening centers and to develop medical services that help in the early detection and prevention of gastrointestinal cancer.
KMI Korea Medical Institute is a health screening specialist institution established in 1985. It currently operates health screening centers in seven locations nationwide, including three in Seoul and four in other regions. A Jeju screening center will also open early next year.
KMI Korea Medical Institute and Waycen will jointly seek ways to operate high-quality endoscopic examinations under their cooperation. In particular, they envision expanding the purpose of endoscopic examinations from diagnosis to the prevention of gastrointestinal cancer, thereby providing new value to endoscopic examinations.
Waycen plans to accelerate the discovery of health screening center references based on its AI-based real-time endoscopic video analysis technology through this collaboration. Leveraging the know-how gained from a pilot project conducted in the endoscopy room of St. Paul Hospital in Vietnam, they are advancing product development tailored to screening centers. The plan is to assist endoscopy medical staff in quickly and accurately detecting abnormal lesions in the stomach and colon, thereby improving the quality of endoscopic examinations.
