Growing Interest in Prevention Solutions Amid Increasing Corporate Risks Due to Rising Disasters
An S-1 field employee is explaining the sensors of the smart building management solution 'BlueScan'.
View original imageRecently, as typhoons and heavy rains have expanded the scope of management risks that companies must handle from major accidents to natural disasters, there is growing interest in solutions that can prevent both simultaneously. A representative example is 'BlueScan,' launched by S-1 in September last year. BlueScan is a smart building management solution that attaches Internet of Things (IoT) sensors to facilities, allowing remote detection of abnormalities.
According to S-1 on the 20th, the number of BlueScan subscribers nearly doubled this year compared to the previous year. BlueScan features the integration of sensors and CCTV to minimize damage from natural disasters and prevent major accidents through remote monitoring functions.
First, BlueScan is equipped with a function where leak sensors detect water above a certain level and immediately send abnormal signals to the cloud monitoring server, which then notifies designated managers at the control center. Upon signal detection, the system uses CCTV to monitor the operational status of drainage pumps and other on-site conditions in real time, aiding early response. It also automatically checks whether sensors are functioning properly to prevent accidents caused by sensor malfunctions. In fact, when buildings in Gangnam, Seoul were flooded due to heavy rain in August, a building equipped with BlueScan quickly detected the flooding and took on-site measures within three minutes, minimizing damage.
Additionally, BlueScan manages facilities without any 24-hour surveillance gaps through sensor technology and advanced monitoring infrastructure. Fire detection sensors detect fires and verify the operation status of sprinklers and on-site conditions, and if it is a real situation, the system immediately reports to the fire station. Even when facility management personnel leave the disaster prevention room for on-site patrols, the system provides a smartphone app service so managers can monitor anytime and anywhere. S-1 explained that there have been no cases of major accidents caused by fire at locations where BlueScan has been installed so far.
