Disclosure of 8 Major Policy Tasks and Implementation Plans for 108 Pledge Projects
Aiming to Lead the 4th Industrial Revolution and Overcome Low Growth and Employment Issues
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province has unveiled its implementation plan for the 8th term of elected mayor’s campaign pledges.
On the 19th, Icheon City announced that it will promote 108 campaign projects under 8 major policy tasks with the vision of "New Icheon, Opening the Future Together."
The 108 detailed pledges classified into 8 major policy tasks include ▲12 projects for creating quality jobs ▲16 for a dignified welfare city ▲12 for a happy educational city ▲11 for an eco-friendly green city ▲14 for an attractive cultural tourism city ▲13 for a safe and livable planned city ▲18 for a livable rural area and future agriculture development ▲12 for convenient transportation environment everywhere.
Mayor Kim Kyung-hee of Icheon said, "To improve citizens’ quality of life and prepare for an uncertain future society, we have selected ‘creating quality jobs through the establishment of an advanced city’ as the top priority pledge to implement."
The plan is to establish a base for an advanced industrial belt by creating an advanced industrial complex, a future city experience center, and a semiconductor park including a semiconductor research complex.
By attracting a robot drone industry startup center and knowledge industry center, establishing a youth startup support center, and supporting public vocational training programs, the city aims to lead the 4th industrial revolution and overcome low growth and employment issues.
Emphasis is also placed on realizing customized welfare such as establishing a 24-hour childcare center, attracting specialized hospitals for infants and children, and creating a complex sports center for everyday physical activities.
The city plans to create an eco-friendly green city with a residential environment and balanced development of urban and rural areas, promoting the 6th industry and supporting rural experience village projects.
Early completion of Dong-Icheon IC, additional installation of Daewol IC on the Seongnam?Janghowon expressway, and other road projects managed as long-term issues such as national and local roads will also be initiated early along with the metropolitan transportation network.
Meanwhile, the city has selected 52 additional implementation tasks including proposals from the transition committee and current administrative issues to be prioritized alongside the 108 campaign projects.
The estimated budget required, including additional implementation tasks, is a total of 3.1142 trillion won. It is expected to require 1.109 trillion won from city funds, 743 billion won from national funds, 248.1 billion won from provincial funds, and 574.1 billion won from private investment and others.
To secure funding, the city plans to adjust the annual investment plan if necessary or use carryover funds and the financial stabilization fund.
For each campaign project, the city will secure national and provincial funds, and separate projects that can be led by the private sector to attract as much private investment as possible.
