From October 19 to November 7, over three weeks, Mayor Choi plans to tour 18 neighborhoods within the district to identify pressing matters in each area and gather residents' candid opinions.
This neighborhood visit, conducted under the name "Neighborhood Field Exploration, Into Yeongdeungpo," differs in content and format from the conventional on-site mayor's office visits.
Instead of uniformly touring neighborhoods with a single theme, neighborhood chiefs will select themes suited to their local circumstances and vary the people and places they meet on site.
For example, in Dangsan 1-dong and Yangpyeong 1-dong, the mayor will meet with local small business owners in alleyway commercial districts, while in Dorim-dong and Singil 1-dong, which have elementary schools, he will patrol school routes with parents to communicate.
Other neighborhoods will have the mayor inspect snow removal vulnerable areas and major facility construction sites, listen to residents' inconveniences on site, and discuss local issues. He will also participate in various large and small events held by the neighborhoods to encourage participants and hear diverse suggestions.
Additionally, complaints raised during the field visits will be forwarded to the relevant departments for prompt resolution, and various residents' opinions will be actively reflected when promoting district government projects.
Jang Oegyeong, Director of the Autonomous Administration Division, explained about this field exploration, "It is significant because it is not just a general meeting gathering residents and neighborhood functional group members in one place, but an opportunity to directly hear and empathize with voices from various social strata that had not been heard before, right in the midst of everyday life."
Mayor Choi will continue his communication efforts starting on the 19th with Yeongdeungpo-dong and Dorim-dong. On that day, he will make sandwiches for low-income single-person households among young and middle-aged adults together with the local social cooperative ‘Keun Eonni Ne Bukkeok’ and residents of the Yeongdeungpo-dong Community Security Council, freely exchanging opinions. After inspecting the Dorim-dong school routes, he will meet with seniors participating in the Silver Health Academy education program.
