On the 18th, the Ministry of Education announced the "2023 CSAT Smooth Implementation Measures" at the Cabinet meeting to ensure the stable administration of the CSAT.
The CSAT will be conducted at 1,373 testing sites across 84 testing districts nationwide. Entry to the testing centers will be allowed from 6:30 AM on the day of the exam, and seating must be completed by 8:10 AM. The exam will begin at 8:40 AM.
To prevent the spread of infectious diseases at the CSAT testing sites, separate testing centers will again be operated this year for students who require isolation. Hospital testing centers have been designated at 24 locations nationwide (93 beds) for students undergoing inpatient treatment. Considering the 7-day isolation period, students who receive isolation notices after November 11 will be permitted to leave their homes on the day of the exam and take the test at separate testing centers (108 centers). These separate testing rooms total 680 and can accommodate up to 4,683 students.
Symptomatic students among the general test-takers will take the exam in isolated testing rooms set up within the testing centers. Up to 24 students will be seated in general testing rooms, and during lunch, three-sided partitions will be installed on desks as was done last year.
Students exhibiting suspected COVID-19 symptoms must visit nearby hospitals or clinics to undergo rapid antigen testing. Students who get tested at hospitals or public health center screening clinics the day before the exam must inform the staff that they are CSAT test-takers and, if testing positive, must report the test results to the relevant education office for prompt action.
Hospitals and clinics must promptly notify public health centers of students' rapid antigen test results and inpatient treatment status. If non-confirmed isolation cases arise, local governments must immediately inform the provincial education offices. The Ministry of Education plans to identify isolated students through situation management starting two weeks before the exam and assign them to appropriate testing rooms.
The Ministry of Education recommends that all high schools and schools serving as testing centers switch to remote classes three days before the CSAT this year. Last year, all high schools conducted remote classes for seven days before the exam, but this year the period has been shortened and changed to a recommendation. Remote classes are also recommended for the following day.
