Yoon Sang-hyun: "3-4 Month Short-Term System Maintenance Is Nonsense... We Must Prepare for the Party Convention"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of the People Power Party and considered one of the next ruling party leadership candidates, criticized the emergency committee's moves such as party affairs audits and replacement of party district chairpersons as "nonsense," urging focus on preparing for the party convention.
On the 18th, Yoon appeared on KBS Radio's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strong Current Affairs' and said, "A short-term system lasting 3 to 4 months organizing things is nonsense."
He pointed out, "If it is a transitional system, in short, the preparation for the party convention should be done diligently," adding, "Even during the last presidential election and local elections, the party district chairpersons were not reorganized. We still held the elections." The emergency committee should focus on preparing for the party convention rather than replacing party district chairpersons.

Regarding former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min's 'unilateral nuclear armament theory,' who is considered an out-of-office leadership candidate, Yoon responded skeptically, saying, "The reality is not easy," and "If we develop nuclear weapons, we would have to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) system, which would inevitably lower our international credibility and lead to diplomatic and economic isolation."
