The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that Minister Lee Chang-yang held a virtual meeting with Saudi Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Faleh on the 17th. Minister Lee discussed ways to expand industrial cooperation and investment between the two countries with Minister Al-Faleh.
The two ministers agreed to diversify economic cooperation areas first. Minister Lee evaluated that the cooperation between the two countries, which had been focused on energy, construction, and plants, is now expanding into new industry sectors such as smart cities, hydrogen, and entertainment. Accordingly, Minister Lee discussed cooperation plans in new industry sectors, including Saudi Arabia's NEOM City project, with Minister Al-Faleh.
The 'Korea-Saudi Vision 2030 Committee' was also brought to the discussion table. The Korea-Saudi Committee was launched in 2017 and held its third meeting this past January. Ministers Lee and Al-Faleh evaluated that the Korea-Saudi Committee has achieved substantial results by identifying 39 cooperative projects from 2017 to recently. Minister Lee proposed strengthening economic cooperation between Korea and Saudi Arabia centered on the Korea-Saudi Committee in celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries this year.

They also agreed to consider reorganizing the Korea-Saudi Committee's organizational structure. Minister Lee suggested strengthening the Korea-Saudi Committee system to support cooperation in new industry sectors. Minister Al-Faleh reportedly expressed consensus on the need to develop the Korea-Saudi Committee.
