On the 12th (local time), according to local media ET Online, Jolie's email appeared in several records submitted by the two parties involved in their ongoing legal battle.
The couple, who legally separated in 2019, are currently engaged in a lawsuit over property division and child custody. In this process, Pitt filed a damages lawsuit claiming that Jolie sold her share of the French wine estate they lived on without his consent.
The disclosed email, written by Jolie to Pitt in January 2021 at the time of selling the wine estate shares, contains content about the winery business and the conflict between the two. In the email, Jolie stated, "I wrote this in writing so as not to appear emotional," notifying Pitt of her decision to sell the shares of the winery he owned. She also mentioned, "This winery is where we gave birth to our youngest twins, Knox and Vivienne, and where we got married in front of the children." Jolie reminisced about her memories with Pitt, saying, "It was the place where we promised to grow old together, so even now, it is hard to write this email without crying. I will cherish the memories from 10 years ago." Jolie and Pitt were married in August 2014 at the family chapel of Ch?teau Miraval wine estate in France.
Jolie continued, "The winery is also where the end of our family began," pointing out that "because it was a business centered around alcohol," Pitt's alcohol abuse was the cause of the family’s breakup.
Jolie wrote, "I have seen countless thoughtless actions, money spent without my knowledge, and decisions made without consulting me. It did not seem like you were interested in sharing the business, nor did it seem like you were thinking about what would help our children grow up healthier." She also confessed, "Recently, seeing you selling alcohol shook my heart. It was irresponsible, something I wish the children had not seen, and it reminded me of painful old times."
Jolie emphasized, "Alcohol addiction has inflicted such deep wounds on our family that I cannot be involved in the alcohol business," adding, "There are only two options: either sell the business or you buy all of my shares." She concluded by saying, "It is hard to express how angry this situation has made me. My 'Miraval' died in September 2016."

She adopted Maddox, Zahara, and Pax, and had Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne with Brad Pitt.
Previously, Jolie’s side submitted documents related to the winery lawsuit containing allegations such as "Pitt strangled one of the children’s necks, hit another child’s face, grabbed my head and shoulders, shook me, and pushed me against the bathroom wall," and "Jolie rushed in to stop Pitt from attacking the child, and in the struggle to separate them, Jolie injured her back and elbows."
