WONANWI Appoints 3 Non-Standing Members... Jae Museong, Kim Gyuntae, Park Cheonhong

[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Lee Jun-hyung] The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission has appointed three non-standing members.
On the 13th, the NSSC announced that it appointed Professor Je Mu-seong of Hanyang University’s Department of Nuclear Engineering, Senior Researcher Kim Gyun-tae of the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, and Director Park Cheon-hong of the Manufacturing Equipment Research Institute at the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials as non-standing members. The term for non-standing members is three years.
Professor Je and Researcher Kim were recommended by the ruling party, the People Power Party. Director Park was recommended by the opposition party, the Democratic Party of Korea. The National Assembly approved their nominations on the 1st of last month.
The NSSC consists of two standing members, including the chairman and the secretary-general, and seven non-standing members. NSSC members deliberate and decide on matters stipulated by the Nuclear Safety Act.

Meanwhile, former non-standing members Lee Byung-ryeong, former head of Korea’s nuclear power plant development, and Professor Lee Kyung-woo of Seoul National University’s Department of Materials Science, who were appointed on October 7, 2019, ended their terms on the 6th of this month. Professor Jin Sang-hyun of Kyungpook National University’s Department of Public Administration, appointed on October 25 of the same year, will complete his term on the 24th of this month.
