Full Effort to Attract Investment and Build New Industry Foundations Such as Secondary Batteries and Hydrogen for a Sustainable Future
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Mayor Kangdeok Lee of Pohang emphasized at the expanded executive meeting held on the 12th, “I deeply thank everyone who gathered precious strength and warmth to help overcome the unprecedented damage caused by Typhoon ‘Hinnamnor’ and restore the daily lives of citizens,” adding, “We will also speed up the prompt follow-up recovery such as river maintenance and carefully monitor the situation.”
At the meeting, key discussions focused on typhoon damage recovery measures including ▲designation of the industrial crisis preemptive response area to prepare a catalyst for the revival of the steel industry ▲inspection of the progress in disaster relief for evacuees ▲rapid recovery for the restoration of citizens’ precious daily lives and the local economy.
To prepare sustainable future food sources for Pohang, full efforts will be made to attract companies, and attention will be paid to ▲creating a secondary battery specialized complex for a great leap as a leading K-battery city ▲building a foundation for the ‘eco-friendly hydrogen energy industry’ to establish a hydrogen city ▲developing customized new tourism resources according to changes in tourism trends, and other infrastructure development for innovative future new industries.
To promote the recovery and vitality of the local economy, which is most closely related to citizens’ livelihoods, the city plans to be even more thorough in supporting projects to revitalize the distribution ecosystem for small business owners and actively executing the second half of the year’s plans.
Mayor Kangdeok Lee said, “I sincerely thank once again the numerous volunteers, self-help and volunteer organizations, and all others including cities, counties, and districts nationwide who greatly contributed through volunteer work, donations, and relief supplies to the typhoon damage recovery and daily life restoration,” adding, “We will promptly complete follow-up recovery such as river embankment maintenance without negligence and make greater efforts to create a safe city to prevent repeated disasters and accidents.”
