Gyeonggi-do and Jeju-do Join Hands to Explore 'Directions for Inter-Korean Exchange and Cooperation'
Joint Hosting of the 13th National Local Governments Inter-Korean Exchange and Cooperation Workshop on the 13th-14th
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province announced on the 12th that it will jointly host the "13th National Local Governments Inter-Korean Exchange and Cooperation Workshop" with Jeju Province for two days starting from the 13th at Sono Calm Goyang and Camp Greaves in Paju.
On the first day of the workshop, Yoon Deok-ryong, a visiting researcher at the Korea Development Institute (KDI), will deliver a keynote speech titled "Greater Peace Starting from Gyeonggi Province," proposing a peace paradigm shift in the domestic and international situation surrounding the Korean Peninsula and presenting a vision for peace across all sectors including social strata, generations, and the environment.
Session discussions will also be held on the topics of "The New Government's North Korea Policy Direction and the Role of Local Governments" and "Inter-Korean Cooperation Projects through International Organizations amid the Deadlock in Inter-Korean Relations."
On the second day, participants will tour "Camp Greaves," which was once a trace of war but is now undergoing transformation into a symbol of peace.
On the final day of the event, a "Peace Empathy Talk Show" will be held, bringing together young people from South Korea, China, and North Korean defectors to open a dialogue under the theme "Stories of Korean Peninsula Peace Shared by Future Generation Youth."
The workshop is expected to be attended by officials in charge of inter-Korean exchange and cooperation from metropolitan and basic local governments nationwide, officials from the Ministry of Unification, and experts in inter-Korean exchange and cooperation.
