The Corruption Investigation Office Investigates Junior Colleague of Judge Lee Young-jin Over 'Golf Entertainment' Allegations
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Division (PCC) investigating the hospitality allegations against Constitutional Court Justice Lee Young-jin has summoned businessman Lee, who was identified as the organizer of the hospitality gathering.
On the 12th, the PCC Investigation Division 3 (Chief Prosecutor Kim Seon-gyu) called in Lee, a junior from Justice Lee's hometown and a businessman, for questioning. He is the person who arranged a golf meeting with Justice Lee last October and introduced businessman A and lawyer B, who are his friends.
Justice Lee is suspected of playing golf with them, exchanging greetings, and then moving to a restaurant operated by A for a meal together.
A claimed that during the meal, he confided about his divorce lawsuit concerns, and Justice Lee allegedly said he would help with the lawsuit, stating that he knew the chief judge of the family court. It was also reported that through lawyer B, Justice Lee received 5 million won in cash and golf apparel.
Justice Lee's side acknowledges playing golf and dining with A but denies any discussions related to the lawsuit or receipt of money or goods.
