According to the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters on the 12th, a total of 807,747 119 reports were received in Gyeonggi-do during the third quarter (July to September) of this year, which is 1.3% (10,811 cases) less than the 818,558 cases during the same period last year. This averages to 8,780 calls per day, meaning one call was received every 10 seconds.
By type of report, on-site dispatch-related calls such as fire, rescue, and ambulance accounted for 332,865 cases, or 41.2% of the total, while non-dispatch calls such as inquiries and transfers to other agencies accounted for 474,882 cases, or 58.8%.
On-site dispatch calls increased by 14.6% (42,513 cases) from 290,352 cases during the same period last year, but non-dispatch calls decreased by 10.1% (53,324 cases) from 528,206 cases during the same period last year.
Among on-site dispatch calls, ambulance calls increased the most, rising 15.8% (27,832 cases) from 175,786 cases in the third quarter last year to 203,618 cases this year.
Fire reports increased by 5.2% (1,611 cases) from 30,708 to 32,319 cases during the same period, and rescue reports rose by 13.6% (1,715 cases) from 79,063 to 89,778 cases.
Among non-dispatch calls, inquiries and transfers to other agencies increased by 16.5% (31,833 cases) to 224,334 cases compared to 192,501 cases in the same period last year.
On the other hand, false calls and no-response reports decreased by 35.4% (98,448 cases) from 278,442 cases in the third quarter last year to 179,994 cases this year, playing a major role in reducing the total number of 119 reports.
The Fire Headquarters explained that most cases of 'no response,' where the caller does not answer despite multiple questions, and 'false calls,' confirmed as misdials, are due to accidental calls to 119 from mobile phones.
Looking at the hourly distribution of calls, the highest number of reports, 146,036 cases (18.1%), occurred between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. In contrast, the fewest calls, 30,875 cases (4.7%), were received between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m.
By region, Suwon City had the highest number of calls at 48,025 cases, followed by ▲Goyang City with 47,436 cases ▲Yongin City with 44,090 cases ▲Seongnam City with 41,387 cases ▲Hwaseong City with 38,767 cases.
