[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kang Jongman) announced on the 11th that it successfully held the ‘Seohaerang-gil Sunset Walking Event’ from the 8th to the 10th along Baeksu Coastal Road (Seohaerang-gil Course 39), famous for its beautiful sunsets.
Seohaerang-gil Course 39 is a representative course of Seohaerang-gil that runs from Baeksu Coastal Road, passing Yeonggwang Bridge, to Baekje Buddhism’s first arrival site and Supjaengi Park.
This walking event was promoted to widely publicize Seohaerang-gil, which opened on June 22 after Yeonggwang-gun was selected for the ‘2022 Korea Dullegil Rest Area and Program Operation Contest’.
The event, attended by 500 people, started in front of the Yeonggwang Baeksu Coastal Road Sunset Exhibition Hall and proceeded along the 2 km section of Seohaerang-gil Course 39, continuing through the Sunset Bell and the coastal deck road.
Participants enjoyed special events prepared at each section, such as throwing lucky dice and ringing the Love Sunset Bell, while walking along the scenic Seohaerang-gil Course 39, known for its beautiful coastal views.
One participant said, “I will never forget the ecstatic feeling of walking along the coastline while gazing at the romantic natural scenery.”
Governor Kang Jongman said, “Baeksu Coastal Road, Yeonggwang’s number one scenic spot, is a special place where you can walk close to the sea and enjoy beautiful views. I hope you make precious memories walking Seohaerang-gil in Yeonggwang this fall.”
Meanwhile, Yeonggwang has five Seohaerang-gil courses (Courses 36 to 40), ideal for healing walking trips, where visitors can enjoy diverse landscapes such as Chilsan Tower, wind power complexes, and Yeonggwang Gulbi Street.
