Professor Kwon Jeong-taek of Chung-Ang University Hospital Neurosurgery Department Appointed as President of the Korean Neurosurgical Society
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] Professor Kwon Jeong-taek of the Department of Neurosurgery at Chung-Ang University Hospital has been appointed as the President of the Korean Neurosurgical Society. President Kwon will serve a two-year term.
President Kwon graduated from Chung-Ang University College of Medicine and has held positions such as Director of the Appropriate Medical Care Management Office and Director of Medical Services at Chung-Ang University Hospital. He is currently serving as the head of the Department of Neurosurgery, actively conducting research in the fields of brain tumors, cerebrovascular diseases, and head trauma. He has also contributed to academic societies by serving as President of the Korean Skull Base Society, Chair of the Seoul, Gyeongin, Gangwon, and Jeju branches of the Korean Neurosurgical Society, President of the Korean Neurocritical Care Society, and Chair of the Society’s Editorial Committee.
President Kwon stated, “I feel a heavy responsibility in taking on the important task of normalizing the society during these difficult times,” adding, “During my tenure as president, I will strive to ensure that neurosurgery is included in essential medical services, work towards the realistic adjustment of insurance fees, expand the number of residents, enhance the quality of training, and improve support environments.”

Founded in 1961, the Korean Neurosurgical Society consists of 85 training institutions, 5 branches, and 12 subspecialty societies, with approximately 3,200 members. The society contributes to the promotion of public health through the training of neurosurgical specialists and international academic exchanges.
