Launched in 1996, DGB Daegu Bank’s external magazine ‘Hyangto wa Munhwa’ comprehensively covers the history, culture, and arts of Daegu and Gyeongbuk, and has been published quarterly four times a year.
The exhibition, held in the first-floor lobby of the headquarters, features themed video content based on 26 years of published materials and a large book-opening structure as part of the exhibition space.
The exhibition is free and open to all visitors, with free distribution of back issues and a special 100th issue, as well as the option to apply for free delivery of future issues, aiming to reach more customers.
It is also designed as an open structure for free viewing. Starting with a photo zone featuring the book-opening sculpture, the exhibition continues with commemorative videos displayed on two large screens of 65-inch and 85-inch sizes, including a special video celebrating the 100th issue.
Visitors can examine the actual publications and apply for free copies of upcoming issues in the customer participation area, which is creatively arranged with a modern interpretation of a folding screen showcasing the achievements of Hyangto wa Munhwa.
Notably, the exhibition highlights the ‘Power of Slow Paper,’ showcasing digital video content of ‘Hyangto wa Munhwa,’ which has quietly continued over 20 years and more than 100 printed issues.
The media art video, under the concept ‘From Reading Books to Watching Books,’ was produced by selecting the essence from content spanning 100 issues.
From the planning stage, the exhibition was designed to align with the ‘ESG management approach’ by using eco-friendly materials. Instead of commonly used acrylic or steel structures, recyclable paper was used to create the exhibition space, emphasizing the significance of celebrating ‘books made of paper.’
