Japanese Foreign Ministry Website Omits President Yoon Seok-yeol's Name in Press Photo Caption
Lee Won-wook: "Full Review Needed for Japan Diplomacy Line"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] It has been confirmed that the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted a photo of the heads of state who attended the '7th Replenishment Conference of the Global Fund' held in New York, USA, on the 21st of last month on its website, but omitted President Yoon Seok-yeol's name in the photo description.
On the 4th, the office of Rep. Lee Won-wook of the Democratic Party of Korea, a member of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, issued a press release on the national audit, stating, "In the explanation of the report on the '7th Replenishment Conference of the Global Fund by Prime Minister Kishida' posted in the foreign policy section by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Yoon's name was omitted."

The description includes detailed mentions of Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, U.S. President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, along with an explanation of the event's content.
However, while the photo description named President Biden and other heads of state, President Yoon Seok-yeol, who was present, was not mentioned at all.
Rep. Lee Won-wook said, "I am curious about the reason why President Yoon Seok-yeol was not mentioned, unlike other heads of state," and criticized, "Even after the forced meeting between Korea and Japan was arranged, Japan continues to downplay it as a mere briefing, and the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs' omission of the Korean head of state is even more humiliating." He added, "The government must conduct a thorough review of the diplomatic line toward Japan."
