'2022 Genesis Championship' Opens on the 6th
Competition heats up until the 9th for a total prize of 1.5 billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The '2022 Genesis Championship,' the domestic golf tournament with the largest prize money, will be held from the 6th to the 9th at the 'Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea' located in Songdo, Incheon.
The Genesis Championship is a Korean Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Korean Tour event hosted by the Genesis brand since 2017 to promote golf in Korea. It is conducted in a 4-round, 72-hole stroke play format.
The total prize money for the tournament is 1.5 billion KRW (300 million KRW for the winner), and the champion will receive a Genesis GV80 as a prize, as well as entry rights to overseas tournaments including the '2023 Genesis Scottish Open,' co-hosted by the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, the '2023 Genesis Invitational' on the PGA Tour, and the '2023 The CJ Cup.'
Additionally, Genesis will award a GV70 to the player who records the first hole-in-one on the 17th hole, and the caddie of that player will receive a G70 Shooting Brake as a prize.

The '2022 Genesis Championship,' the 19th event of the 2022 KPGA season, carries the highest number of Genesis Points (1,300 points for the winner). As a decisive tournament that could determine the recipient of the 'Genesis Award' at the end of this year, key KPGA players such as Seo Yoseop, Kim Mingyu, and Bae Yongjun are expected to fiercely compete. Genesis Points is the first tour points prize system introduced in the history of Korean men's golf tours.
