He plans to directly enter various field sites related to local issues in each autonomous district and the core of the 8th term Seoul city administration, ‘Walking with the Vulnerable,’ to inspect and communicate with autonomous districts and local residents to seek solutions.
On the 4th, Seoul City announced that starting with the first visit to Gangdong-gu, Mayor Oh will officially launch ‘Communication Accompanying Autonomous Districts,’ also known as ‘Auto Communication.’ In July, the city guided the 25 autonomous districts on ‘Promotion of Autonomous District Meetings and Cooperation between City and Districts’ and received local issues from each district, which are currently under review by the relevant departments.
On the day, Mayor Oh will visit the ‘Amsa Green Road’ (Amsa Prehistoric Site to Han River), a major local issue in Gangdong-gu, where the project resumed after about seven years through a petition signed by 100,000 residents, and meet with local residents. Lee Soo-hee, the head of Gangdong-gu, will accompany him. The ‘Amsa Green Road’ project connects the Amsa Prehistoric Site and the Han River waterfront, which were separated by Olympic-daero, into a green space. The project involves undergrounding the eight-lane Olympic-daero and constructing a 50-meter-wide green road with 6,300㎡ of green space on top.
The ‘Amsa Green Road’ was initially promoted in 2011 during Mayor Oh Se-hoon’s previous term as part of the Han River Renaissance project but was halted in 2013 due to low citizen usage and traffic congestion on Olympic-daero. After the project was stopped, Gangdong-gu residents continuously requested the city to resume it, and in 2019, they conducted a petition campaign with 100,000 signatures to restart the project, which was submitted to the city. Subsequently, with growing public consensus, including the UNESCO World Heritage registration of the Amsa-dong site, construction resumed in 2020.
Following the resumption of construction by Seoul City, Mayor Oh plans to listen to residents’ opinions and Gangdong-gu’s proposals on-site regarding the ongoing efforts in Gangdong-gu to open an access road connecting the ‘Amsa Green Road’ and the ‘Amsa History Park.’ Additionally, he will visit Gangdong-gu Office to encourage civil service staff working at the forefront of citizen contact and discuss various local issues with Lee Soo-hee, the head of Gangdong-gu.
