"Streaming Era as a Symbol That Breaks Down the Boundaries of Content"
Netflix's "Squid Game" has been named one of the "100 Greatest TV Shows" by the American popular music and entertainment magazine Rolling Stone. On the 26th (local time), Rolling Stone ranked "Squid Game" at 95th place, describing it as "the most recent work included in this list and the only non-English language program."
"Squid Game" became the most-watched show in the United States within one week of its Netflix release. The number of global subscribers who enjoyed it over a month reached 142 million households. During that time, Netflix's market capitalization rose by nearly 25 trillion won. According to internal documents obtained by Bloomberg in October last year, the revenue generated by "Squid Game" exceeded 900 million dollars (approximately 1.25 trillion won). Rolling Stone praised it for "captivating viewers with intense thrills and socio-economic satire," adding that "(its high popularity) symbolizes how the streaming era has broken down the boundaries of content."
