Hampyeong-gun Secures 93.2 Billion KRW in National and Provincial Funds for Natural Disaster Mitigation Projects 'Great Achievement'
By 2026... Promotion of Natural Disaster and Flood Control Projects Expected to Permanently Prevent Natural Disasters
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 22nd that it has secured 93.2 billion KRW in national and provincial funding from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as a result of establishing a 'Comprehensive Plan for Natural Disaster Reduction' to prevent disasters.
Accordingly, the county plans to focus on related projects such as comprehensive maintenance of flood and water damage living zones and improvement of natural disaster risk areas by 2026 to prevent natural disasters permanently.
First, the Naegyo and Gigak districts, which suffered flood damage from heavy rain in 2020, were selected as targets for the comprehensive maintenance project of flood and water damage living zones. By 2026, 21.8 billion KRW will be invested to install drainage pump stations (3 locations) and maintain small streams (3.0 km).
692 billion KRW will be invested in the natural disaster risk improvement district maintenance project to renovate two flood-prone sections of Hampyeongcheon and Eomdacheon streams and reconstruct bridges by 2026.
Additionally, based on detailed safety inspections that rated three sites?Deokcheon, Bogeum, and Dongrimje?as grade D, 2.2 billion KRW will be spent by 2024 to maintain irrigation and drainage canals and embankments.

A county official stated, “Since 2020, we have actively emphasized the necessity of the project by frequently visiting central government ministries, the National Assembly, and related agencies to secure project selection,” adding, “This public contest project is expected to contribute not only to disaster prevention but also to revitalizing the local economy through large-scale project implementation.”
