Ostem Implant Expands Scholarship Program: "Advancement in Dentistry is the Company's Progress"
Celebrating 20 Years of Scholarship Programs, Continuing Co-Growth with the Dental Community
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Osstem Implant's scholarship program, conducted to promote the advancement of dental medicine and foster a scholarly atmosphere in dental colleges, has reached its 20th anniversary.
Since its inception in 2003, Osstem Implant's scholarship program has steadily expanded its scope and scale, and as of 2022, scholarships have been awarded to students at 15 out of 16 dental colleges nationwide. Over the 20-year period, the number of scholarship recipients has surpassed 1,000.
In addition to the scholarship program, Osstem Implant consistently donates to school development funds and continuously supports various academic events and seminars in the field of dental medicine. While this support is part of the company's social contribution efforts, it is also closely linked to strengthening the company's competitiveness.
An Osstem Implant representative stated, “Thanks to our dedication to developing technology that meets the clinical skills of Korea’s world-class dentists, we have become the global leader in implant sales and can compete on equal footing with leading overseas companies. We are expanding the scholarship program with the hope that dental students will devote themselves to their studies and further enhance Korea’s dental R&D competitiveness.”
This year, 151 dental students have received or are scheduled to receive scholarships. On the 17th, Osstem Implant held the ‘2022 Osstem Implant Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony’ at its Magok headquarters in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. Due to COVID-19, the ceremony had been scaled down over the past two years, so this year’s event attracted more attendees than ever. Ninety-two scholarship students from schools nationwide attended, and deans from all 15 universities were present to celebrate and encourage their students’ achievements.
After touring the ‘Osstem Research Institute Product Exhibition Hall,’ Korea’s first permanent exhibition space dedicated to dental products, attendees received their scholarship certificates and enjoyed a celebratory banquet that extended into the evening, providing a welcome break from academic pressures.
Fourth-year dental student Youngseok Ahn from Yonsei University Dental College said, “It is an honor to receive a scholarship that holds great significance in my final semester as a dental student. Through the award ceremony, I heard encouraging words from the deans and talked with many students, which made me deeply reflect on the value of what I want to do. I renewed my commitment to wholeheartedly care for patients and strive to become a skilled dentist.”
First-year dental student Yoonho Lee from Jeonbuk National University Dental College said, “I am proud to be selected as a scholarship student by a leading dental company in Korea, and I am happy to feel that my efforts have been recognized. I will continue to devote myself to my studies and school life passionately, and I hope that someday I can offer the same congratulations and encouragement to juniors as I received today.”
