Korean Community Meeting Held in New York, USA... "The Spirit of Unity Sharing Fruits is the Driving Force of the Korean Community"
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] President Yoon Suk-yeol held a meeting with overseas Koreans in New York on the 20th (local time) and evaluated, "The spirit of solidarity, where we unite closely, achieve together, and share the fruits together, is the driving force leading our overseas Korean community." President Yoon promised, "The government will do its best to ensure that our overseas Koreans can live safely without being exposed to hate crimes and discrimination."
At the meeting held in a banquet hall in downtown New York that evening, President Yoon said, "We will do our best to ensure that overseas Koreans enjoy their rightful rights in American society."
Having emphasized 'freedom' in his earlier UN General Assembly speech, President Yoon reiterated freedom at the meeting. He stated, "We will contribute to world peace and prosperity based on the spirit of freedom and solidarity, as well as the norms brought by the UN and the international community," and added, "We will do our best so that overseas Koreans can take pride in themselves."
He also evaluated, "Overseas Koreans in the New York area have greatly contributed to the development of the motherland and have become a model for the Korean community worldwide." President Yoon emphasized, "Many national pioneers, including former President Rhee Syngman and Dr. Seo Jae-pil, conducted independence movements based in New York to restore national sovereignty," and added, "Our 1.5 and 2nd generations have risen to leading positions and distinguished themselves here in New York, the center of the global economy, finance, and culture."
