'Ogu Play' Yoonina Unable to Compete in Any Tournament for 3 Years
KLPGA "Serious Fraud" 3-Year Suspension Penalty
Previously, KGA Also Imposed 3-Year Disqualification
[Asia Economy Reporter Byeon Seon-jin] Yoon Ina (19), who caused controversy with 'Ogu Play,' has been suspended from participating in KLPGA events for 3 years by the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA).
On the 20th, KLPGA announced, "Yoon Ina has been suspended from all tournaments organized and hosted by KLPGA for 3 years." KLPGA held a disciplinary committee meeting on the same day to review the punishment for Yoon Ina and decided based on Article 15 (Disciplinary Standards), Paragraph 3 (Suspension) of Chapter 3 (Discipline) of the disciplinary committee regulations. It was determined that she committed "unsportsmanlike conduct" and "unseemly acts in various tournaments" as stipulated in the clause.
Yoon Ina will be prohibited from participating in all tournaments (tour, seed events, qualifying rounds) organized or hosted by KLPGA for the next 3 years. Previously, the Korea Golf Association (KGA) also held a Sports Fairness Committee meeting and imposed a 3-year suspension from association-organized tournaments on Yoon Ina.
Yoon Ina became embroiled in controversy after she voluntarily reported that she had played with the wrong ball on the 15th hole of the first round at the ‘DB Group 36th Korea Women's Open Golf Championship’ last June.
When attending the disciplinary committee meeting that day, Yoon Ina said, "I am sorry. I sincerely apologize."
The KLPGA disciplinary committee stated, "Although there were mitigating circumstances such as Yoon Ina’s voluntary report, it was judged that she committed serious misconduct by not reporting the violation for a long period after the rule breach and continuously participating in tournaments after the violation," and added, "We will firmly respond to similar misconduct in the future."
