[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangwon Province will hold regional forums in four areas within the province starting from the 20th to establish the basic direction for the launch of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province next year and to prepare amendments to the Gangwon Special Act.
The forums aim to gather ideas and opinions from residents of all walks of life to set a vision that reflects the unique characteristics of Gangwon Province. The forums will be held in four regions: the inland area starting on the 20th, the mining area on the 23rd, the border area on the 27th, and the East Coast area on the 29th.
The discussions, chaired by Han Pyo-hwan, former president of the Local Administration Research Institute, will begin with a presentation on the "Vision for Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province" by Park Yang-ho, former president of the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements. Participants from each city and county will then explore key regional priorities and their connection to the vision for the Special Self-Governing Province.
The province plans to complete the vision establishment by October and will intensively operate a working group to develop special case logic and determine legislative priorities.
