Side Dish Convenience Food Sales Increase by 38%
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Emart24 announced on the 20th that starting from the 21st, it will sell the ‘No Kitchen 3-Side Dish Set,’ which includes 3 side dishes per set.
The newly introduced products are three types: Chicken Thai Curry Rice with 3 side dishes, Maragochu Japchae Stir-fried Rice with 3 side dishes, and Budae Kimchi Stir-fried Rice with 3 side dishes, priced at 4,900 won each. To celebrate the launch of the No Kitchen 3-Side Dish Set, customers who purchase the products by the 30th will receive a free small Hetbahn rice bowl.
According to Emart24, from June 1 to September 18 this year, sales of side dish convenience meals increased by 28% compared to the same period last year. By commercial district, new residential areas accounted for 36%, general residential areas 32%, and office districts 19%, in that order. By time of day, sales between 6 PM and 9 PM last month accounted for 26.8%, the highest proportion of the day. This is analyzed as consumers preferring home-cooked meals over dining out due to high prices, leading them to purchase side dish convenience meals at convenience stores near their homes during after-work hours.
