Through the cloud, efficiency can be maximized, leading to exponential growth. He also emphasized the need to strengthen digital infrastructure and build a robust digital ecosystem.
On the 19th, Huawei held the 'Huawei Connect 2022' event in Bangkok, Thailand.
Rotating Chairman Hu delivered a keynote speech on the theme of 'Triggering Digitalization,' stressing, "Digitalization is definitely the right choice. Both demand and technology depend on the digital revolution."
Due to the impact of COVID-19, the global economy has been stagnant over the past two years. However, the digital economy sectors such as broadband networks, cloud, and artificial intelligence (AI) have shown steady growth worldwide, growing 15% in 2021. They are creating new value in areas such as ports, manufacturing, and energy.
Hu pointed out that although countries and companies are at different stages of digital transformation, they all face common problems. These include ▲ lack of digital infrastructure ▲ shortage of solutions and talent ▲ challenges in application development, which cause a kind of 'bottleneck' in attempting digital transformation.
He then proposed the solutions of ▲ strengthening digital infrastructure ▲ utilizing the cloud ▲ building a stronger digital ecosystem.
Regarding digital infrastructure, Hu said, "Connectivity and computing infrastructure are the two core pillars of digital infrastructure construction, both requiring massive upgrades." He added, "Network technology must support billions of connections for industrial Internet of Things (IoT) networks. It must support ten times the current bandwidth, microsecond-level latency, and industrial-grade reliability." He further stated, "Huawei is defining, developing, and verifying 5.5G, the next generation of 5G, in both fixed and wireless domains."
He emphasized that leveraging the cloud enables exponential growth.
Hu said, "There is no doubt that the cloud is the future," and stressed, "By 2025, it is expected that 95% of all new digital workloads will be deployed directly on the cloud." However, he pointed out that "most companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, tend to limit the value of the cloud to traditional benefits such as flexible infrastructure and resources," indicating a low level of cloud utilization among enterprises.
Hu introduced Huawei Cloud, which focuses on supporting enterprises not just to use the cloud but to fully leverage it for a leap forward, offering four pipelines: ▲ AI development ▲ data governance ▲ software development ▲ digital content.
According to Huawei, a university hospital in Xi’an used Huawei Cloud for new drug development, reducing the lead compound identification process from several years to one month. Singapore’s Green Link Digital Bank used Huawei’s cloud-native development services to complete infrastructure construction, which usually takes 2-3 years, within one year.
On this day, Huawei announced plans to establish new regions in Indonesia and Ireland. By adding these two countries, it plans to activate services in over 170 countries and regions within the year.
Additionally, Hu emphasized that talent development is essential for building a digital ecosystem. Huawei has conducted numerous ICT Academies in Europe to support students and faculty in enhancing digital skills. In 12 countries including France and Germany, it cooperated with local schools and governments to provide training to more than 4,000 people. In the Asia-Pacific region, through the 'ASEAN Academy' and 'Seeds for the Future' programs, Huawei plans to increase digital talent to 500,000 by 2026.
